Well I've managed to snap one in nearly ten years, but I've also snapped one chain in nearly ten years, so I'm not too worried. :)

covers most of the questions about belt drive. I personally don't want to go back to a chain unless I have no choice.

It's a bit cleaner for me though because of the belt drive not being lubed.
