• In less exciting car news i learnt some basic maintenance from my Grandad today. Oil changed, oil filter renewed, spark plugs and new air filter. Main thing (we both) learnt is to label the spark cables so you dont accidentally plug them in the wrong order

  • I need to learn this sort of shit. I've bought a Haynes manual as the first step which is currently sitting on my kitchen table. Unfortunately I just have a London street to work with, not a setup like that! Is that his garage?

  • Yeah he dug the pit and bricked it up himself years back! just big enough to squat down under the car and cover yourself in oil :)

    Haynes is great, could probably have done everything I did yesterday with it but was good to have someone hand holding. Jack stands in an empty side street will probably be enough, and what I'll do next time I imagine

  • My place is surrounded by soft ground so I have to do any repair work on my car at the local petrol station forecourt. Pair of ramps or a pair of axle stands and a jack should do the job for most bits of work.
