53t rings look massive these days don’t they. I had pretensions of racing when I first put this together.

What wheelset are those?

Picked up this 1990 Marin Palisades at the weekend and can’t quite decide what to do with it! Thinking fat tan wall slicks, ditch two chainrings and run it 1X. Do love the neon. Needs new cables throughout, chain, cassette, saddle... oh and I can’t get the BB out at the mo...

Similar vibes here, found this abandoned on the side of the road and am not sure what to do with it really. A year ago I already bought the same frame and did it up into a 1x shopper which I still use, so am not really sure.

Thinking of buying some upgrades for my 1x (new wheels, tyres, maybe drive train?) and swapping the old bits onto this for sells. Groupset is 7 speed STX for its sins.

I kid - Adelaide is lovely. Apart from its way too fuckin hot.

Taking ages to finish, new crank bolts lost in the post, wrong tyres sent and general lack of enthusiasm on my part - nearly there.

Yeah, Last summer wasn't funny, and neither is that joke. A lot of people lost their all of their stuff and businesses. All of us lived with smoke etc.

[EDIT]: And might I add, we got away fucking light in South Australia, comparatively. Victoria and NSW fires where on a scale unimaginable rly.

Fair enough - my sister lives in Adelaide and I lived in Melbourne during black Saturday. Didn't mean to make light of people suffering, just a poor joke about the weather.

Don't worry, I have to be told sometimes as well. Adelaide does get pretty hot sometimes. Right now it's down to 2 degrees over night and I'll freeze my balls off on the bike tomorrow.

Are V-Brake posts removable? If I remove these hose guides will the posts from another fork unscrew and go in their place?

Maybe. There are a couple of different thread sizes in common use (M8 and M10) so it's a coin toss whether some random ones will fit.

Thanks tester. I’ve never noticed that they have flats or any means of removing them before. Not that I’ve had cause to look.
