  • Huawei steal these fancy new cars using their '5g tech'

  • Not after 2027 they won't. That'll show them.

  • Ok, I'll buy a Ferrari then.

  • If you want to know how easy a car is to nick ask a 14 year old joyrider, not an 'expert'.

  • You do. On the e90/1 you can smash the windows and lean down to the obd port without setting off the alarm then program in.
I removed my obd port and zip tied it under the steering column to a misc wire loom = only a smashed window and car still there in the morning. Oh Stratford, i miss that fear every night.

  • normally works with Cup cars and GT3's

Cup cars coming from the factory with wheel arch rub these days?

  • Depends what you're doing with them!

  • Does anyone know (roughly) how much below market rate webuyanycar.com pays?

I need to get rid of the Passat, but it is complicated by the group claim I am in against VW Group. They have negotiated first right of refusal on buying the car, at market rate. So, to get a first stab at what that rate would be, I intend to use wbac.com plus a percentage uplift. But what percentage?

Or is there a better way to get a quote?

  • Just look at autotrader. Surely going to be a load of similar ones with similar mileage that you can benchmark.

You could also look at ‘sold’ auditions on eBay for similar ones.

  • I'd be surprised if they did anything other than book value.

Does the agreement define "market rate?"

  • Get the quote from their site then deduct a further 30/35% this’ll be something near what you’ll get from them.

  • Thanks. I just used the autotrader valuation tool.

    Much better.

  • my mrs is in the midst of buying a kia picanto (not exciting). Found one somewhat locally for a good deal - but it has £2k outstanding finance on it. The seller has now told us he has paid it off and sent forward some proof of that (scanned receipt of payment to Kia). My mrs has just called the Kia finance team to confirm this and all they can say is "we cannot say whether there is no finance outstanding on the vehicle - but can say that we have no interest in that vehicle".... wtf does that mean? is it paid off then? are we being overly cautious? guy seemed a very straight up normal bloke - full service history etc.

i know we could get an HPI check but apparently that can take a little while to update...

    any ideas?

  • Read between the lines. Maybe they saying they wouldnt touch it with barge pole?

    #Sceptic

  • yeah that is what we are thinking - but they said they are also extremely restricted by what they can say to people. All they can confirm is that they "have no interest in the vehicle" - which could mean there is no finance outstanding

  • It just means that they have no outstanding claim on the car

  • Nice metallic blue Lotus spotted sparkling in the sun yesterday.

  • Went out for a drive today after having fault codes cleared for traction control and tyre pressure loss.

Traction control light popped on again intermittently- when I stopped I noticed the rear left disc was super hot and there’s loads more brake dust than on rear right wheel.

Sticking calliper? Is that a thing? Could that cause the lights mentioned above to come on?

  • I had the same situation when buying a Fiesta a few years back. Seller provided evidence that it had been paid off. Lender said they could only say they had no interest in the vehicle.

Went ahead and everything was fine. Of course, this doesn't mean everything is fine in your case, just that your experience seems to be a normal one and could mean everything is fine :D

  • Yes, quite possibly.

  • Interestingly on the way back home I managed to barely use my brakes (to the annoyance of those behind as I was travelling slower) as an experiment. The light didn’t come on at all so my hypothesis is that it’s something to do with the rear disc/brake/calliper and under heavier use something is triggering the faults.

  • Wow ... colour must have been a brave choice ..
    But wow

  • Which reminds me I saw a Citroen DS décapotable on the way to Brittany , there can’t be many .
    Worth a fortune I bet

  • Think there were 1500? made and they were made by Henri Chapron.

Think the first convertible DS was made for Mr Michellins wife or mistress..
