Hi.
Large V4 Pompino - Raw Finish for sale. 7 years of good use but fancy discs now.
Fair bit of surface rust but no cracks.
The seat post is seized and I don't have the tools to try and remove it. Unfortunately, I sold the fork a while back as I replaced the original with a set of Easton EC90X straight blade forks (also for sale).
Would make a great project frame.
DM me if you want more detailed pictures.
£80 posted.
Cheers, Pete

...but fancy discs now.
What is the replacement? (Loved my Pompino until it died, curious about alternatives.)

Octane Kode One. Originally wanted a Pompetamine but just none about.

Has anyone fitted one of these to their Pompino? Thinking of fitting one with a Wald basket secured to it.

Who is running guards and wide tyres on their Pomp?
I’m on 28c tyres and 35mm longboards just now but I feel I should be making more of the bike’s ability to take wider rubber plus I have a ‘Sunday best’ fixed roadie on 25s so I’m thinking 32 or 35mm tyres would be a nice change.
Is there much out there in that kind of width that’ll stand up to a bit of skidding? Wrong thread to be asking that I guess.

28's with mine, room to go bigger I reckon but I'm not clued up on the tyre market.

35 Paselas underneath 45? PDWs
Reckon you might get away with 38

Those guards 45s?
-
• #8160
Ah, no, sorry (they're either 38 or 42 I can't remember!)

Nothing to apologise for.
It’s interesting to see as those 28s don’t look ‘lost’ under the guards.

They're cx comp so nobbly, might be 30 not 28. Memory fades.

I definitely had 35mm kojaks on with 45mm chromoplastics but didn't squidd them.

I have a set of cx pro somewhere and they are 30 I’m sure so probably the same.
Might just chuck some 32 Gatorskin on. I know some people don’t like them but I’ve always been a fan.

Not the best picture but Im currently running 35mm gravel kings under some random plastic guards.

Looks nice and close fitting.
This...
Is meant to be 35mm alloy guards with 32mm tyres underneath.
Might see what tyres I can sneak under my 35mm guards. I think I wore through the flap on the rear guard with a 30mm tyre though.

I’m also interested in this. Paging @Cupcakes
Currently running 35 Chromoplastics with 28c Duranos and 28c Winter Spikes in er... winter.
Would like to run 32/35’s with guards but still want decent clearance as the cycle paths in Edinburgh get real grimy during winter.
Currently getting mounts added to my Pompino fork to be able to run one of those monster Blackburn Outpost front racks for max stuff carrying lols’s.

I have one of these and it didn’t fit to my Pompino fork. I had the fork crown drilled by a local frame builder, maybe the position of the hole would improve your chances.

I definitely had 35mm paselas with SKS chromo at the rear (although a SKS pro would have blumels) - have a Kinesis pure CX up front but never fitted a front guard so can't speak to clearances on stock fork.
Here it is finally sorted

My pompino has 33mm tyres under 45mm SKS guards. It's a nice sweet spot. No clearance issues. (I'm running a crosscheck fork).
My pompetamine fitted 38mm paselas under wide SKS guards (can't remember which, but >45mm)

I'm running 32c Paselas with 45mm Bluemels on my Pomp V4 with no issues.

• #8172
Paselas any good for skids?
-
• #8173
I'm not running it fixed, so I wouldn't know.
-
• #8174
Nah they are tough enough but still have a fairly smooth ride so you'll burn through the tread quickly if you wanna whip skid and bus stroke

Thanks!
Fitted mudguards, could probably trim the rear in a bit more.
Tempted to chop the Geoff bars narrower, but once cut cannot be uncut n'all that. A narrower bar with backsweep probably a better option, can anyone recommend owt like this in black?
P.s. Rear puncture wasn't part of the plan for today so looks like hike a bike home as I cba fixing it local to home.
