• Update on the wild flower strip.

    Grass is now creeping back in and the adjacent grass is shading it - which I can't cut because I don't want to risk damage the flowers.

    For next year I think I'm going to cover with a couple of layers of cardboard, then composite, then those seed mats with some compost on top.

    Hopefully the flower roots will be able to sufficiently work their way into and through the cardboard as they grow to get water from the ground.

  • You could cut the adjacent grass by hand? I have a wildflower patch in the corner of my lawn and I’ve had to get down with some scissors to keep the grass next to it under control. Shouldn’t take long for the flowers to get tall enough that it’s not so much of an issue.
