• It's literally been decades since I used cleats so I need to find shoes that fit my idiotic feet (see below) without spending 100s of pounds on mistakes. This will be an exercise in learning roughly what size/design/brand of cycling shoes might work for me before I take the plunge and get a new pair.

Ergo, I am looking for cheap road shoes that ideally meet the following needs:

Size: my regular shoes are all UK size 11. My foot is 280mm x 195mm and my insole is 290mm x 195mm
Design: Ideally proper lace-up (to try and snug those idiotic feet)
Styling: like I can afford to care?
    Cleats: Look Keo

As ever, thanks for reading my humble submission and if I've forgotten crucial info, please let me know.

  • For narrow feet, I'd suggest Fizik - they also have a pronounced arch support.

You could also go for Bont shoes which have thermoform-able sole.

  • Thanks for the advice. I think I had read the same but it's good to have it confirmed.

  • I use size 46 shoes and my feet have the profile of a single piece of spaghetti.
I use both Sidi and Fizik that both work well with narrow feet.

I might have an old pair of Sidi Genius with Keo cleats. I’ll take a look when I get home this evening.

  • I’ve got some 46 Sidi road shoes too if you need

  • I'm looking for something like that too, laced and for narrow feet so I might as well join the thread here.
Is giro republic worth the hastle at all?
I like the look but I hear people stopped liking them since you can't replace the bottom pads any more

  • How much, guv?

  • i still have these, if you are interested: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/333138/#comment14719046

  • Cheers, I've replied in the thread.

  • I do still have them; they’re the same model as BRM’s but his are in far better condition.

I’d have to sell these for £20 + postage or I’d just keep them as spares.

  • What size regular shoe do you wear?

  • Hard to say with some brands and styles requiring different sizes.
Having just had a look in the shoe cupboard, I’m an 11 in Adidas and 10.5 in Clarks

  • Okay thanks. BRM's size 47s should be with me later this week so we'll see if I actually need 46, LOL.

  • No worries, they’ve been sat in a cupboard for about 2 years so another week won’t be a problem
