This has been a pleasing day of dog pictures. Good work, medals all round.

Looking after a lab a bit at the moment, he's a lovely boy. Tail never stops moving.

Benny's been doing well lately. really hate he can't socialise properly with humans though, he's so nervous when people try to interact with him other than immediate family. think the answer would be having more people around the house but not much chance of that any time soon. we do treats with the other regulars at the park but he's very reticent to get close and will offer his paw from 6 feet away instead.

Regularly look after/walk a couple of Springers that were from working stock.
They are wonderful dogs and easy to train and a delight off the lead...
However they need 2h+ walk or they don’t stop when they get home and there’s no way I’d have one if I didn’t have a garden with a hose!

I remember those days. Lovely memories :)

Two hours at once or over the course of the day? Our dogs get about two hours over the course of 3-4 walks every day, but would be really pushed to find an single two hour block.

A little easier in dryer weather but any stream/pond/lake/river/puddle/mud bath and they’ll be straight in it!

These will be okay with 2x 1h or so walks but really they need a LOT of exercise and are noticeably more settled when they get a 2h walk.
I’d really love one of my own but as a breed they pretty hectic and need plenty of exercise which means I’ll probably never have one because of their needs.
A old friend has one who’s now 16 so doesn’t need anywhere like the exercise she once did but he works outside and she’d go to work with him daily so got her fill.

they themselves are toy poodles.
Funnily enough my toy poodle is the most fearless good natured dog I've met - never met a toy who isn't like this actually. He'll go up to anyone and just wants to play. Plus he's fast and agile enough to get away from more or less any dog that isn't so friendly.

Will do, not sure when that will be. She's been shielding with a live-in carer since the begiining of lock down and that's unlikley to change for the foreseeable given she's 91.
Hope you're both OK. Managing to make progress with the house?

Our Benny needs about 45min- 1hr a day. Some days will be out for 2-3hrs and others he won’t go out at all and just mess about in the garden.

The band I really want to join....

Band? This is the worst band ever....
Right to left: Stella, lead vocals and hissy fits; Beamish, bass and background mumbling; Boddington, lead guitar and hairstyle; Murphy, one of nature's drummers.
I give you THE TWATS!

I love cattle dogs so much - I too have short legs and can be a bit intense, so feel I can identify.

Our dogs are so rarely called by their own names, instead they are called the ginger idiots, morons, cunts (only ever as a term of endearment). The boy is often referred to as gooby, goobz, big stupid or son whereas the girl is called (pure form) evil, little stupid or the girl. They are utterly the centre of our world, we moved out of london to improve their quality of life.
Would not recommend viszlas to anyone who can’t devote a lot of time to their dogs. Known for terrible separation anxiety, ours tend to be left alone for about 3 hours max (though during daytime we’d arrange a visit or walk). One of our neighbours was a vet nurse, but had to give up her career when she got a viszla who would stop breathing due to anxiety if left on his own. Thankfully she took up dog walking and dog sitting and she fully understands and appreciates this every needy breeds idiosyncrasies and is able to help us out with ours.

We recently adopted this (now) 5 month old terrier-ish something-or-other , Bajka.
She was born/living in an old barn in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere. Now enjoys eating pigeon feathers and swan poo, and licking the (human) 3-year-old's hair.

We’ve got a staff/spaniel/other cross and he’s like inviting a whirlwind into your home. He’s much better behaved off the lead than on it, far more gentle with children than adults, absolutely ball obsessed and could probably entertain himself all day in any body of water. He’s the best. Not sure I’d go full spaniel in a flat unless you’re experienced with the breed/able to ensure they’re well exercised/entertained. As mentioned quite a few times, sight hounds can be ideal as aside from a walk a day they just want to be on the sofa with you
