The double Mitsubishi/Star of David at the top is just a place holder while I decide on a final pattern but it came out ok. Sadly because I can’t start with a larger triangle at the equator(it wouldn’t sit flush on the ball) the pattern disappears into tiny isosceles triangles before the top which explains the change in pattern near the top but I’m pretty pleased! Still a bit to do on the bottom half but it’s all good.
About to embark on a 4 colour twist on a slightly smaller sphere so will hopefully reach the top before the triangles get impossibly skinny.
That is brilliant. Never doubt that you are a craftsman. When I read your comment about 3d cad I tried to think about modelling something like that and couldn't visualise how do it! I do have reasonable cad skills but not much experience of spheres. The radiant effect is magical.
