Is that Bill Sienkiewicz, the comic book guy?

Yes
-
• #14954
It is. He's also been trolling Scott Adams for a while.

More bad news about rapidly decreasing anti bodies after infection.

Similar results from Germany with patients that got infected at the start of this year. -

What kind of social meejias is this? Looks like someone typing up snippets of text in an image editor then uploading to... Facebook? Is there a new text formatting function I don’t know about. Or a whole new platform?
-
• #14957
Facebook allows you to convert text to images with custom backgrounds. Has been a thing for a few years

Slightly dull practical question:
how do hair cuts work nowadays?
(barbers not hairdressers)
-
• #14959
At time it feels like I am just ambling along not greatly affected by the situation, but just my work has been on hiatus and I have had a rather productive staycation.
Then I email a client and get this response "*** ALL TRAINING SUSPENDED AND BRISTOL FAMILY ***** CENTRE CLOSED DUE TO CORONA VIRUS OUTBREAK ***"

My barber just wore a mask when I had mine done last week, I'm not sure whether that was technically compliant but we're sure he's already had it so I can't say I was too concerned.

Last Tuesday,
full-on face shields/visors for barber,
face masks optional for clients.
Vacant chair as I approached the entrance.
Would not have gone in had there been a queue of people waiting. -

When ae we going to get some good news on covid?
-
• #14963
It's not really a good news kinda thing.
-
• #14964
The last post in the "I think I/we might have Coronavirus thread" was 24 days ago, that's a good sign.

With due respect to the authors- its a bit of a pointless study.
We have evidence that antibody titres reduce over time [for a generic infection]. This study looked at- essentially- serum antibody levels, over time, and showed that yes- less antibodies= less binding. It tells us nothing.
This is illustrative of the shit, piss-poor excuse for science that has led us thus far.
- Sorry the science is fine, it follows the appropriate method, etc, etc. But the aim, the hypothesis, and outcomes are pointless. Easy pickings for paper publications, not targeted or forward-thinking. There has been some terrible science, but thats by-the-by.
What it does indicate, is that the antibody tests we were so excited about, are probably even more fucking pointless than originally thought by RCPATH.

What's the difference? Peeps that cut hair innit? Asking as not one for giving a shit about hair cutting.
-
• #14968
Hairdressers offer you a cup of tea and wash your hair. Barbers don't.

About a year ago, or maybe two, I had an alfresco stylist haircut in a cul de sac in Lower Clapton; washed my own hair.

It tells us nothing.
This doesn't tell us that immunity works in a different way than expected?
Easy pickings for paper publications
gotta get the numbers up I guess. Thanks for your response.

No, it confirms that immunity is as complex as we already knew it was. Antibodies are only part of the immune response. T cells and B cells are also a vital component.

HK just shut all the pubs, gyms and karaoke lounges again.
Restaurants must close at 6pm other than for takeaway
Face masks are now compulsory on public transport
Can’t gather in groups of more than 4Some good news, if you are not in HK this doesn’t affect you.

It tells us the immune system works exactly how we think it does.
Serological half lives of IgG, IgM are 21 and 6 days.
Hence, over time, there is clearance of the antibodies.
This study shows that perfectly.
That is all you can truly take from the study.Twisting of data to support any hypothesis in either direction is the issue at the.moment, propelled by the media and poor, rushed papers that overplay their conclusions.
On a related note, todays predicted 120k further deaths.
I dont disagree with it, I just think it needs more nuanced reporting. -

Preach.

Radio 4 has been pretty clear about reporting it as "possible" rather than "predicted"
Sorry about that post. Here is something to cheer everyone up. Small German study suggests corona virus might cause long term damage to the heart.
