Doing everything right this weekend.
Up at six, three hour walk, will get home, sort the bike and eat a massive pasta meal in the bath before having a sleep.
Last Friday I didn't really sleep before riding to and back from Southend..
Don't think we'll see it but full moon tonight.

Thanks to John for organising and everyone else As well for the great ride. Glad to get a Deal With It done. Finally got to bed around 22:30 last night after shuffling around all day unpacking and actually feel like a human today.

So very grateful to John for organizing these. They're always some of the best rides of the year.
Super group, well done to those for who this was their longest rides ever. Especially given that it's an over-nighter, at a pretty decent pace, with a 25km uphill at the very end (pumping headwind). -

Saturday evening, 19 of us set out for Deal on the south coast.
Greenway to Woolwich to grab (and wait for..) the south contingent, a few fast roads till the outskirts of Gravesend, passing through the creepy concrete factory and town center. Then we were out in the luscious pitch darkness of cool country lanes.
After a tedious puncture halfway up a dark hill near Higham we got to Esso Rochester and collected food and drink for the break at the Chatham Naval Memorial.
Stopped over a little longer than planned in the Great Lines Heritage Park due to a suprise crate of beer dropped by Ollie of Fixed Beers. For an hour the top of a windy hill became a pretty wild party, sheltered by the wall of the memorial.
Was out front for most of the 130KMs past Margate until we rounded the headland and the tailwind that had been throwing us down the lanes became a solid wall. Struggled up on to the cliffs at Ramsgate afterwhich it is a straight shot over Pegwell Bay to Deal.
Sent everybody on ahead and enjoyed the last few KMs in silent suffering and contemplation.
We had the usual breakfast at the most welcoming Kings Head then I got to watch jealously as everybody slept on the train home.
I really hope someone picks up this ride when I'm gone.

Anybody want to ride to Camber Sands Friday night for a morning chillout on a sandy beach?
Everything around my way is still soaked, happy with the date change.
