  • What @krs2 said; the bearings, wheels and trucks on lower prices completes are likely to be hit and miss. You’d be as well getting a generic deck - Powell ones are okay - but spending a bit more on a decent set of trucks, like Indies, and a set of China Reds and decent urethane. I’ve been through many set-ups in the 34 (!) years I’ve been skating, and set up hundreds of boards in that time but have ridden the same trucks, wheels and bearings for going on 15 years now. Independent Stage 9-11, Ricta Clouds (currently the 86a ones on the cruiser, 92a on the park board) and Bones Swiss. Luckily you’ve got a lot more choice in board shapes now than there’s ever been, and I’ve gone through a few Krooked Zig Zaggers; so fun to skate.

  • That's a great point to be fair. The deck is obviously the most expendable part of a setup.

This one from Globe had caught my eye, Tensor trucks would be decent?

Otherwise recommendations for a sensibly priced build would be great!

  • That Globe complete actually looks ok spec wise but i bet you'd have a better time spending that kind of budget in your local S.O.S. and rolling out with something you picked out and put together yourself... and maybe saving some loot too.
e.g. a Death deck, Krux trucks, Crupie wheels and some mini logo bearings and you're in £115 for something superior.... plus you kept it local [if you are able to].

  • Not sure where you’re based but definitely support your local; Globe is an Australian megalith shoe company that has links with Almost/Tensor etc. but for the price of that setup you can get a pretty decent one. Slam City/Focus/Blast Skates/Brixton’s Baddest/Flatspot/Skateboard Café/Welcome/Native/Ideal etc. are all UK-based and would welcome your custom. I like Welcome (brand, not the shop) decks for their shapes. Worth spending a wee bit more and putting a few quid in a local business’s pocket. Avoid Route One; that’s a kite shop that just happens to sell some skateboards.
