  • Skatepeople;

    I was thinking of getting a skateboard after many years without one... (I do have a nice Original longboard though)

    Are completes garbage nowadays? Globe seem to do some nice looking ones but not sure what they're like?

  • What @krs2 said; the bearings, wheels and trucks on lower prices completes are likely to be hit and miss. You’d be as well getting a generic deck - Powell ones are okay - but spending a bit more on a decent set of trucks, like Indies, and a set of China Reds and decent urethane. I’ve been through many set-ups in the 34 (!) years I’ve been skating, and set up hundreds of boards in that time but have ridden the same trucks, wheels and bearings for going on 15 years now. Independent Stage 9-11, Ricta Clouds (currently the 86a ones on the cruiser, 92a on the park board) and Bones Swiss. Luckily you’ve got a lot more choice in board shapes now than there’s ever been, and I’ve gone through a few Krooked Zig Zaggers; so fun to skate.

  • That's a great point to be fair. The deck is obviously the most expendable part of a setup.

    This one from Globe had caught my eye, Tensor trucks would be decent?

    Otherwise recommendations for a sensibly priced build would be great!
