Ha ha, I wondered how long it'd be until someone mentioned that in here. I know a few people in that boat, bending over backwards to justify eating meat when they clearly know they shouldn't be doing it.

Oh sure, but read back in the forum archives and you'll see that things have improved immensely. At first, most of the forum was openly hostile to veganism and there were very few vegans on here. This thread is now bouncing most of the time and loads of people are still turning vegan.
The other thread has also just turned better because ohheyitsdrew and edmundro posted there.
People need information so that they can develop moral motivation (to act on) and moral reasons. If they don't have the motivation, they won't act, and if they don't have the reasons they won't be consistent and stick with their decisions. It takes time for everyone. Obviously, we can help. :)
