(loving the Smiths btw... EDIT - can I ask how noisy the miyota rotor is in that one? I have the everest expedition model and it is a seriously rattly thing - I was wondering if I was just unlucky or whether that is pretty standard)

AIUI rotor rattle is pretty standard across Miyota movements, but my Everest only does it occasionally (or if I really try to spin it). I don't mind it - it's infrequent enough that I can just enjoy it as a quirk.

I can hear the thing spinning if I shake the watch near my ear but just wearing it out & about I've never heard anything, though my hearing is a little damaged so if it's high pitch I'm not going to hear it.

My Everest was wobbly as hell. I would lift my arm and the rotor would spin so much the watch literally wobbled on my wrist. I guess it’s better that it spins like this rather than not spinning or having trouble to do so :-)
