The stairs in our house are kinda fucked. Seeing as we're redoing the whole, place now makes the most sense right?
Has anyone bought new stairs for a period property and can they recommend someone?

There was a link to hand carved stone stairs somewhere up this thread.

We used Kavitha too.
She spotted a couple of things which would have impacted us severely and worked hard to get solutions.
She was a little slow to respond at times but the overall time to exchange / move was pretty quick.

How fucked is kinda fucked? Unless the stringers are gone it's possible to repair a lot.
The problem that you have is unless you go otp (doubt a staircase to suit a period property would be otp) stairs are complex, bespoke work and therefore carry a hefty price tag.
I know you are sarf but not sure where. I do know a good chippy that may be able to take a look for you and give you an opinion. He's based in Epsom.

I think they're definitely repairable but it seems a right faff. Maybe I'm being naive

I don't know what he's got on but I'll pm you some details.
At the very least he should be able to give you an honest appraisal of what needs to happen.

Is it really? Battle Of Britain 80th anniversary this week I think, you could stage a historical re-enactment.

Yeah. I'm tempted to dig it out but it's probably two days of hard work.

No! It's history, I was looking at house with tank traps the other day:

Has anyone sold a property without using an estate agent? Any particular complications that this adds to be aware of?

Aluminium bifold doors. Anyone have a recommendation for SE?
-
• #33242
We got doors from Aspire which are great and the service was good too (delivery, they didn't fit).
NE not SE but they deliver all over.

Not a fan of crittall. Will ensure sufficient bouj is deployed elsewhere.

Yes - have bought and sold independently, and no.
You have to do all the negotiating yourself, obv and if you're in a chain you'll have to deal with EAs at the other end. But solicitors do the detail stuff as per usual so it's really just a bit more keeping up with communication once you've agreed prices etc. Having no EA fees gives you an extra bit of virtual cash to share to sweeten the deal. -

We've got a pretty basic metal up and over. At the top of the door are rollers that follow a track along the ceiling. When we go away I put a G clamp on the tracks on both sides right up at the roller so it can't be opened. Seems pretty secure I reckon.
Day to day it has a central lock, and handles in and out to open.
In the garage I have a couple of ceiling hung brackets for storage that hang lower than the space the door opens into IYSWIM. -

Nested...
Not SE London specific but I was impressed with them selling my place in Greenwich.
Listing to completion in 7 weeks. Listed at 495 with the assumption that it was really worth around 475. Sold for 476.5 (https://nested.com/for-sale/SE10/Farmdale-Road/40cl79w1)https://nested.com?refcode=Uaihdu_RWRQ
(we'd both get £500 via the referral)
We used Kavitha Rajah based on someone's recommendation on here and she was really good. Thorough, efficient, courteous.
She's with a different firm to when we used her - I don't know what this would mean in practice and whether it should alter my recommendation so make of it what you will!
