The double-height one is just fine for 6. But if opting to build, be aware that you will need extend the mesh of the cage horizontally all round by about 200 mm or, better still, bury the overlap in the ground. Foxes can and do tunnel into hen houses.

Well, the workshop is currently subject to a relocation and redesign. I have grand plans involving a rocket mass heater (or other masonry heater) to keep it and the adjoining greenhouse warm during the winter months, but need to do more research and find someone who's actually competent. So I'm fucking around in Sketchup for the mo.
But on the other hand: Chickens!

Definitely not a cockerel, but a very manly hen indeed. Working on some winter comforts for them now the cold and wet is setting in

When I was 5-6 years old we had a white hen .I can't recall if her features were particularly manly, but she used to crow like a cockerel every morning.
Chickens are awesome at turning food and garden waste into things that can be eaten.

We're going to build a full caged run for them, will be making it as fox-proof as possible. That eglu is a bit smol for 6 chickens
