My granddad was a lifelong motorbiker (only got a car license once he retired)
He told me to get a motorbike, anyone but not a scooter. Called them deathtraps, uneven weight distribution and unstable.

At the time, 1980, I had a 9 month old Ducati 900SS Desmo. I thought I was the dogs bollocks on two wheels but that scooter nearly killed me.
A couple of years ago I was at the Bristol Italian motor show thing. There was a Scooter Group with all the mirrors, parkas, pointy shoes and Brylcream that you could shake a stick at. Each to their own I s'pose.

I have never felt nearer death on two wheels than when riding a Lambretta. It wasn't mine and I don't know if that way of cornering is how I should have done it. It didn't feel right or proper.
