I'm wondering, on a mechanical/auto chrono, when the chrono function is engaged, does it alter other characteristics of the watch? Like power reserve and time keeping. My reasoning being that it's another bunch of wheels to turn, that wouldn't be in motion normally?
It depends on the design of the movement. In most chronos having the chrono running depletes the power reserve slightly quicker, but some are designed to be the other way round.
