Vespas - they look, sound and smell shit. Is there some kind of design genius that I just don't get because I'm not a moped rider? Or is it just the whole mod scene thing?
Scooter. Moped is no more than 50cc.
Early Vespas are beautiful, the GS160 for instance. Lambretta are my preference. You sit on a Vespa, you sit in a Lambretta. They ride way better, and look loads better IMHO.

I have never felt nearer death on two wheels than when riding a Lambretta. It wasn't mine and I don't know if that way of cornering is how I should have done it. It didn't feel right or proper.

The original Mopeds had pedals, like the Honda Camino.
(I had a Camino for a while, then a beige Yamaha Passola, then a Kawasaki AR125, then a Honda Cub 90, then an RD350, then (briefly) an FZ-600, then a ZX6R.)
I was an idiot on a bike though, so had to stop riding otherwise I'd be long dead.
