On the one hand there is the 'women have integrated the male gaze into their aesthetic aspirations and that is unhealthy' argument - aka the inescapable fascist beauty standard. On the otherhand is the 'women are still working for acceptance of their chosen looks and many of them feel empowered (personally and financially - and what is more powerful than money) by deciding to embrace cosmetic surgery and new beauty trends' argument. I'd say Ariana Grande is a good example of this complexity.
All I really meant is men (including me obvs) judge how a women decides to do herself up at their intellectual peril.

You're spot-on here. And my own arguments have also come over very superficial (an irony not lost on me).
I just happen to like how people age. I love (the probably very cliche) b&w photo portraits of people lines and all, the character in faces and expressions, etc.
