I've never heard of Wet n Fix but I think they might solve my problem with spinning wall anchors for the wall mounted bike hanger. amazing, the forum saves again

Got any volunteers up for giving a hand are you in London? Buildings do not look like London

@Hovis @Soul That is useful info - ours would be SW facing but would be shaded by a tree, though I'll have a better idea of this once I've spent some time working from the existing summerhouse.
I liked the ubuild option because it means I can probably self build it, rather than than something from scratch which I just don't think I have the skill/time for. Ive got a call with them today. -

Not in London, in Fife :)
Got 5 mates coming round tonight, prepare for photos of it snapped in half on the ground!

Edit: the man himself beat me to it!

Looks great, really neat job. 1+ for never having heard of wet and fix. Will have to have a look into those!

This - never heard of it but looks perfect for all sorts of jobs in this house.

Probably better going for a 'gripit' or similar style fixing if planning to put a reasonable amount of weight on it.

Oh it's not plasterboard, just a weird old wall. The beefy wall anchors I'm using tighten up so far and (i think) start spinning in the wall. It's pretty secure but if I could increase the friction around them I'd be happier.

Awning sounds like a good shout, however my only gripe with it would be that you will miss out on the direct sun in the winter which is obviously useful. I'd try find a best of both worlds option if possible. Retractable awning perhaps? Or even a cantilevered parasol out in front on the deck that you can swivel around to block the sun on really hot days?

I'd be interested to know what the quote you vs spec if you don't mind sharing. Not to worry if you prefer not to.

Following on from yesterdays saw blade chat, anyone have a recommendation for a place to get them sharpened in SE London area?

Check the sun's angle in winter vs summer for your area, most builders neglect to factor this in yet some real benefits can be had to take advantage of it's warmth in winter and the shade in summer from a well placed awning/window orientation.

Here’s the wet and fix in action. Discovered it a few years ago when a stair gate kept getting yanked out. Sets really solid. Worth having in the tool box for sure.

4 man flip was a success!
A few holes in the middle, going to bag rub and then polish.

Got some good logburner/ how to sort fireplace pointers on here a few weeks back (cheers). Ended up going with the Clock Blithfield model which was perfect size, spec and solid looking company. Built like a brick shithouse at 116kgs. Fireplace wise, just cleaned the bricks and did 3/4 coats of heatproof masonry paint. Before & after here

I really must order the film, but keep forgetting when it pishes down again.
Attic bedrooms get too hot with South facing Velux windows.
This is a fancy example where the roof sticks out to provide some shade.

No idea if they built more than their 3 models not far from Berlin, but those are jealousy inducing.
