You are a bit high on the price considering the mix groupset and it's poor condition. You should be thinking more around £250.sorry to damping your hopes

Hey billy
Thanks for the suggestion, I’m happy to come down to £400.
I would be interested to know how you arrived at your valuation. I personally feel like £250 is way too low.
Disregarding the mixed groupset, the frame alone is worth way more than that. Before I posted on here I got in touch with a professional restorer who valued the bike (in its current condition) at between £400-£800, depending on how long I was willing to wait for the right buyer.
In terms of the bike’s condition: like I say, the paint chips are only aesthetic.

Outside of condition entirely; typically, this sort of vintage bicycle is valued thusly:
- Prestige of the Brand
- Quality of tubing (columbus / reynolds?)
- Originality of Components
Obviously, the carrera brand is sadly tainted now, and the tubing here is unknown (??) I would also say £250 would be a fair price for this.

Columbus SLX.
If the paint was in excellent condition you may get £250 for the frame if the right buyer came along. As is, I don’t think that would happen (on here) and I think it would be difficult to shift the parts.
What people occasionally pay in certain bike shops is very different. However it’s not impossible to pick up a frame like this for half that amount on here.
For balance I do really like these old Carreras and think this is really nice, but that beautiful paint job is knackered unfortunately.

Forks may also shift for £120, but you’d then have to sell a tired looking frame without forks.
Argh, sorry for interfering with sales thread. For £400 this wouldn’t be the worst buy, I just think it would need to be a lot shinier.
Bloody bikes eh?!

Sell it to the restorer!

£250-£300 due to the knowledgeable rabble here. Probably much less if ebay'd/gumtree given the tainting by Carrera of that there Halfords.
Mandatory GLWS too.

Oh boy.
Personally still think it's worth more even if that value comes from a sentimental place. Also, the tubing is Columbus SLX as mentioned above.
To avoid banishment from the community I will drop the price: £300

Frankly I'm in a bit of a financial / floor space pickle and I could do with quick cash so lucky buyer I say!

This is the italian Carerra, its completely unrelated to the halfords brand!

No shit, Sherlock! People on here know the difference. The average ‘Joe‘ on the high street Shopping at Halfords might not. That is why the word ‘tainted’ was used.
Anyway, can someone buy the man’s bike! It’s lovely. Bump!

That's probably the same era/year but the frame is different (check seat cluster and chromed/painted seat stays) and the parts are nicer too. A quick reverse Google reverse image search throws up the following spec:
Frame:
- Carrera Podium Columbus EL Nivacrom steel tubes, Carera steel fork
Groupset and components:
- Campagnolo Chorus 8 speed Rear derailleur
- Campagnolo Chorus front derailleur
- Campagnolo Chorus Bottom Bracket (Italian thread) 36X24
- Campagnolo Chorus Ergopowers
- Campagnolo Chorus Brake calipers
- Campagnolo Chorus Crankset (170 mm arms)
- Campagnolo Chorus Headset 1"
- Campagnolo Chorus seatpost
- Campagnolo Chorus Hubs
- Mavic CXP30 clincher rims
- Vittoria Tecno Pro Clinchers NOS
- 3ttt Status Stem
- 3ttt Prima 220 handlebar
- Selle Italia Flite Titanium
- Carrera Podium Columbus EL Nivacrom steel tubes, Carera steel fork

eBay ‘asking’ prices are different to ebay sold prices though. There’s a basso viper near me, which I’d snap up for £350 .. but seller is asking double that because someone else listed a NOS frame for £800+ (ignoring the fact that it hasn’t sold after months)
Anyways. Free bump for seller. Nice bike regardless

Dibs if not on ebay yet :)
Selling my old bike as I've upgraded and I'm poor cos of Covid.
Will say straight off the bat that the bike has received quite a lot of use over the years.
The frame itself is in relatively good nick though aside from a substantial amount of aesthetic only paint chipping caused by my bike lock (see pics below). Components wise: The left shifter is pretty battered and although I've had the back wheel trued, it too is a bit dodge.
Ideally this bike would suit someone looking for a doer upper project. If you didn't already know, this is not a Halfords Carrera bike but the Italian brand of the same name.
A thorough explainer of the brand / brilliant restoration video of similar bike.
Some spec here:
Italian Carrera frame Columbus SLX tubing - 54cm x 54cm
Wheels - Misc?
Shimano 600 brake calipers and chainset, Shimano bottom bracket
Shimano Ultegra front mech
Shimano 105 shifters and rear mech
Campagnolo Record headset
Selle Italia saddle
ITM stem and bars
I'm really not sure how to price this tbh. There are versions of this bike going for crazy money on eBay. Granted it's not in great shape but have seen the forks alone (which are pristine) going for £120. So until someone calls me an idiot for thinking I can get anywhere near as much as this, I'll start on £500 but, obviously open to offers.
PRICE DROP: £300
Based in Tooting.
