  • Once pads are cooked to smoking not sure how good they are after.

Are the discs a bit thin?

  • New unregistered lancia gamma anyone?

    https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1234968

  • Yep I’m fairly sure the pads are shot now so am not doing any real driving until I get everything new installed now. They felt okay this afternoon while being gentle so sure it’ll be fine til then.

Discs look pretty good to me but I have never changed them and can’t find any receipts for when they were last done. I’m sure a new disc/pad combo will get it all sorted.

    Thanks for everybody’s help.

  • Remarkable!

  • I had a 88 190d, that is still in the family, but not sure you could drive one could drive it in a spirited fashion.

  • I had the 2.0 diesel in white, that looked line a minicab.

The oil filter change was the easiest I have ever had, but the 6.5l of oil was a pain, and only 3 or 4k between changes. Still sub 200k and still no rust.

  • ah thanks appriciate that - but I do want a detachable one and having inspected the underside of my car, I definitely need a cut out. The existing plastic skirt butts up right against the exhaust, so there has to be a cut out.

  • I've looked online but wanted to double check - does CC definitely now still run until 22.00?!

  • Yes

This was the last announcement, everything kicked back in and includes weekend coverage too.

  • £225 later and I've had my cat re-drilled and the exhaust heat shields sorted. It's come with the realisation that I'm not happy to pay people to do work that I'm more than capable of doing myself.

The garage also identified a few things that need work:

    • Rear shocks dead - I knew this, and plan to replace with Cup shocks asap
    • PAS leak - I fixed this today by fitting new PAS pressure switch
    • Front NS brake seizing on - reconditioned callipers arriving today, I'll fit them this weekend
    • NS inner CV gaiter leak - this jobs a pain in the ass as I need to pop out the driveshaft and drain the gearbox oil, not something I'm keen to do outside my house.

Does anyone have a garage / unit with some space I can rent to do this, near east London?

Edit: the E30 is lovely but it's a grey interior automatic, sadly.

  • Cheers.

Bit of a pain as I was hoping to drive to the office tonight and ideally didn't want to take the motorbike after all this rain.

But I guess that's what it's designed to do.

  • E30

Does the grey not look quite good against the burgundy? Cream or black would be best.

How hard are gearbox swaps on the E30? Or is it just the faff and not worth the sunk cost?

  • The most important modification of all has arrived for R53.

  • You're running Windows on a Mac! Oh the horror.

  • I know, I am deeply ashamed but I need it to run Revit and I like being able to only have one laptop even if it means packing an external hardrive for Windows!

That being said, performance isn't optimal so I may need to review this choice...

  • Revit wouldn't be optimal on an IBM Summit. B^P

  • 350 miles down, seems to be much improved with the fitting of the 3rd ecu this year...

  • Where are good sites for used classifieds?

At the moment I'm on autotrader, gumtree and ebay. Hoping to buy privately

    Cheers

  • As a kid living in the countryside, one of these Montreals crashed into our fence and was left on our drive for a while..... unlocked so I was able to play very cool driver in it.... thought it was an awesome looking thing even then and even accident damaged!

  • Pistonheads is the only other one that I am aware of

What type/model of car are you after?

  • if anyone is considering getting shot of their non-ulez mobile, i am looking for a new car

    anything tidy considered.

  • Oh no, i'm opening up myself on this thread now.

An Alfa - either a mito or a giulietta.

  • There are a few Alfa Romeo Classified groups in Facebook that are well worth a look. Tend to be mostly enthusiast cars that have been cared for. Facebook Marketplace in general can have a good few available too.

"Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) UK Ltd Marketplace"

    "Alfas For Sale"

"ALFA Romeos For Sale Cars and Parts"

    CarandClassic is good too.
