I’ve definitely found myself wanting a bit more knobble sometimes. My ride the other night had me spinning like a paddle steamer through slippery mud with nowhere to put a foot down, thinking I was very much at the limits of my current tyres. Was pretty jealous of my mate with his knobbly 650x2.1 tyres!

I get into a lot of sticky mud which tends to overload file treads so I think I'll try the 650x42 resolutes this winter. Need the clearance, probably, and my bike is from 2015 so probs has less space than some of them. Would rather have the smaller tyre with fatter knobs than a fatter tyres with less knob, if you get me. Will report somewhere when I get round to trying it.
