RIP rider.
That's a dodgy old junction, I used to drive through it a lot

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any further information or dashcam footage should contact Surrey Police by calling 101 and quoting reference number PR/P20144191

Am I just noticing it more or has there been quite a few recently? One of the inevitable downsides of an uptake in cycling?
Awful.

RIP rider.
Some confusion about the location here:

From this:
Clay Lane, Church Lane and Thurst Lane in Headley
It should be Hurst Lane, not Thurst Lane. However, the other link posted by hippy ...
https://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/cyclist-dies-collision-three-way-18467716
... says it was at the junction of Clay Lane and Tilley Lane. Which is correct? Looking at StreetView, the latter seems to me the more problematic junction where such a crash would be more likely to occur, but I don't know the area. I can't find any other articles about it.
Were you talking about the junction in the first link, @doubleodavey?

Yes, it's a bit further south, near a cricket pitch.
Clay lane has the marker in my screen shot, it's still not a great junction. It's at the bottom of a hill (heading north) and cars go pretty quickly down there.
I use the junction from the top link (south of the marker) when I'm driving home from work and the M25 is too busy. If the sun is low, visibility can be an issue

Thanks, quite a few factors coming together. We still don't know at which of the two junctions it happened, but perhaps there'll be another news article. Still, I expect the council's traffic department will have correct information, so perhaps they'll take some action there to address the problems.

Yes, all the reports have it as a 'single vehicle collision'. However, remember that we shouldn't speculate or give unverified information in these threads, so it would be good if you could state your source(s).
I've just looked again and haven't found any new articles about it.

Thanks. I can well imagine that this refers to this death, but I can't see the location referenced explicitly anywhere and it's not a verified report.
Being strict with sources is a rule of caution we've adopted because families may find these threads and any speculation is harmful and may spread incorrect information.
