This isn't really news, there was no way Ferrari were going to match his current terms and Vettel would never accept being being given equal status as the other driver in the team. He'd be best off retiring rather than damage whats left of his rep.

I don't think I'm surprised. Question is, who are they going to take in his place?
I think for a championship, they have to get a supporting driver rather than another one fighting for outright wins.

Fernando...
*taps nose

I'm hoping for Kimi, but Sainz is looking likely which would also be great to see.

Got to be Kimi, but will probably be Carlos

If Vettel still wants to stay in F1, a swap with Gio wouldn't surprise me. Hinwil would be a nice commute, he's had Kimi as his team mate before, and Ferrari hiring an Italian driver as #2 to Leclerc would go down well with the tifosi.
Carlos and Lando at McLaren seemed like a happy pairing to me, with a promising future given the Merc engine switch, but apparently Carlos to Ferrari is almost done:

Yep. Sainz to Ferrari and Danny Ric to McLaren.
Danny Ric in a Mercedes powered McLaren might be worth watching!

I'd suspected this is what was coming, glad Ricciardo got out of Renault.

Also, he and Norris will make a great pair I imagine!

wonder if they will make a swap before the season starts. Just slot Vettel into the Renault for the year and everyone (apart from Vettel) is happy

Seeing all we can do is watch sporting re runs these days the old (1980) Brian Moore meets Niki Lauda doc on ITV hub is well worth a watch.

Speaking of re-runs, there’s some epic wet drift action in the 1997 Monaco Grand Prix. Just watch the opening laps if you’ve got 5 minutes spare, Schumacher shows us how it’s done!

Racing starts again next week. Austria, Red Bull Ring.
Mad to think that 2 years ago today I was getting my things together to go to my last race, which was Austria and we won! I miss those days!

I've just stumbled across "THE RACE"'s coverage of today's NLS (aka VLN) round 1, four hours of actual racing, with English commentary and Deutsche Werbung.

So looking like Mugello will be hosting a race in September, quite looking forward to that but imagine it'll be similar to Zandvoort in that'll be amazing to watch those cars lap in quali, but will likely be Monaco-like in the number of on-track overtakes.

Good to see Ferrari going backwards...

Can't wait for next weekend after this!

Great result by McLaren. And also, Valtieri looks like he really means business - Lewis will have to be on his toes.

If it comes down to a close head-to-head end of season (with the constructor championship secured), I can't believe that Bottas will be allowed to beat Hamilton.

Good start to the season, great result for Lando/Mclaren. Brave but risky move from Albon. Not sure it warranted a penalty but given how badly Albon came off out of it it was probably fair. I don't think they know if the power unit issue he had later on was down to the collision but it's possible that would off ruined his chances of winning anyway.

I can't believe that Bottas will be allowed to beat Hamilton.
Why?
Sterling Moss passed away today after a long illness, age 90. A real hero of the age I think and probably worthy of a world championship or three had the cards fallen better (and he not been so keen to win in a British car at times).
