FH7801
There's your trouble. Shimano made deep splines on 7800 in order to build an aluminium freehub rotor which wouldn't get cut to shreds by the sprockets. It turned out to be more trouble than it was worth and they very quickly replaced the 7800 hub and wheel lines with 7850 products with a titanium rotor with standard HG splines. 7800 is the the problem child, your cassette will fit any other 8/9/10/11-speed Shimano HG hub and a wealth of compatible hubs from other manufacturers.
I have a Shimano FH7801 rear hub.
I have a HG50 11-36t cassette.
Both are 10sp. I’m aware this hub ‘will only fit 10sp’, however I’m finding that isn’t the whole story ... and this particular 10sp cassette doesn’t fit!
I’d like a similar 10sp cassette for that hub. Is there an extensive chart for Shimano hub/cassette compatibility online?
