  • Lockdown habit, convenience (not needing to worry about clothing, food, weather) efficiency of training and round here people are driving faster because the roads are empty.

  • -17 watts on that FTP test, which makes sense as I've not been finishing most sessions either due to them being too hard, me being meh or work getting in the way.

    Instead of worrying about it I'm tagging in the missus to set my FTP for me this afternoon :D

  • I just lost the ability to continue on what appears to be fairly easy session Juneau. Halfway through was light headed and exhausted, its the first workout I have bailed on. Annoyingly since moving into base phase2 my weight has started creeping up. My tanita scales tell me my body lard percentage has been reducing during this period but rather disappointed to be putting on weight as according to the BMI scale I am still overweight. I am fully aware that BMI is not a great indicator for my health/weight, the last time I was in the upper half of "healthy weight zone" was a period where people accused me of looking emaciated.

  • Have you had a deload week? Guessing TR plans build that in?

    I've had a couple of week long periods over lockdown where I've just felt exhausted. A few days off (or active recovery maybe) and I'm back to fighting form.

  • That may be the issue, usually i ride Monday Tuesday, break on Wednesday and then ride Thursday Friday Saturday. Instead I have ridden Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday add in the heat today and it might well explain my losing the will to pedal

  • I have ridden Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday add in the heat today

    I think you've found your answer.

  • was taken aback by how much my mind just said "no, stop" even when I had been meeting the power requirement for the warm up and the first 4 intervals but as I finished the fourth brain/willpower just dissolved

    and i now remember this morning having a hay fever attack that induced asthma too, so i'll blame it on the weather, season, and over doing it this week

  • Perceived exertion was through the roof on the turbo today. Main interval was 30m 92% threshold with 30s vo2 (120%) every 2 minutes.

    Had to take off erg mode for 5 minute easy in the middle, and another 1 minute easy before last overs.

    Hot, pollen filled air and last night’s pistol squats probably.

  • Fully nerded out and built from a kit, a Pi keyboard for trainerroad with Garmin out front mount.

    Green = make it harder
    Blue = toggle ERG/Resistance
    Red = make the pain go away

    Turns out it's really good for avoiding cadence death spiral in ERG.

  • I mean, I do that with an off the peg wireless keyboard and/or mouse but sure. Mine also Alt-Tabs to Youtube or skips mp3s... :P

  • :D.. it is part lockdown project, going to try and make the code more sophisticated next and part my setup means the computer is a bit of a stretch

  • "Get a smart trainer!" they said. "ERG mode is great!" they said.

    I forget who said these things, but I despise them

  • I meant to post that in the turbo trainer thread

    The spiral of doom has affected me more than I thought

  • is trainerroad the app where you see numbers and a video? if so how do I get free trial etc?

  • I can send you a link for a 30 day trial.

  • You're probably thinking of The Sufferfest

  • Yep, sounds like Sufferfest. IWBMATTKYT. Home of Grunter von Agony and the minions.

  • I did the sufferfest 30 day free trial, mainly for the strength and the yoga. It was decent!

  • ok gonna give it a try

  • Alright so far, i am listening to my music; should i listen to sufferfest music? Do they have any bollywood bangers?

  • This was invented in a Swiss winter by a banker.

  • Read a book.

  • The messages that pop are a bit bandana sportive wanker. I am a soft sensitive city boy who spends his time in rolled up trousers and beanie at kew gardens taking curated photos.

  • Of the many training apps I've tried, Sufferfest was perhaps the least appealing
