Crikey. Once again, thanks for making the seats I'm planning to put in my car seem like spare change in comparison!

The seats in my Ateca squeeze my ribs and cause bruising on long drives. A seat like that would probably kill me.

Boom! More than purchase price of two of my three cars put together!

Whilst I was picking my car up they pointed out a Defender that had just had £85,000 worth of work done to it, and another Defender that was just about to start £33,500 worth of work, chap pointed out that the owners would lose the entire value of the work done at resale.

Nuts. But then again Defenders are making silly money nowadays, esp the US export market.

Mostly alarm and immobiliser systems from what I've seen

I used to live in Oxfordshire, near to Soho Farmhouse, and there were obviously a whole lot of souped up Defenders round there. Heard about one with a system on that would lock the whole thing up if anyone tried to steal it. Someone did, and it did, and they ended up trying to drag it down the road before abandoning it!

Custom roll cage, custom hard top, entire interior re-trimmed to match the interior of the hardtop, new bumpers, new lights, new paint on all of the above (apart from the lights).

It was back in to have a (custom) soft top.

I'm looking at £40k sticker price aiming for low 30s...

Well the reason I recommended Schroth harnesses is because they tend to work best with HANS devices, which would also help stop the driver getting a Glasgow kiss from the steering wheel. But then a HANS device is utterly pointless without a helmet, which might be considered overkill for the airport run.

I freely admit that it's silly to take the airbag wheel out of a car that comes so equipped, but my view is that it's still safer than rattling around in an MGB.

I hope you're not intimating that MGBs don't go round corners, stop, or have functional headlights? Or that the driver is the crumple zone. Luckily, a standard MGB isn't fast enough to inconvenience a geriatric badger.

Your seat cost more than the last MGB I bought, it was a long time ago though.

My first car cost £250, my second £2,000, third £9,500 and fourth £11,800 (I've still got 3 and 4).

I suspect I've spent less on cars than a lot of people my age, although I'm sure I've also spent a lot more than many others.

It's a nice comfy seat, which is important as you feel around your ankles for your teeth.

I can recommend an excellent dental practice in Northiam, the downside is the savage receptionist (Mrs B).

1,000 miles in and I have a screw straight through the front passenger tyre and my tyre pressure warning system is lit up. Screw is a Philips and looks to be about an M6 size, so the fact that it's a screw and not a nail means it's not going to form a decent seal and will now always leak air, and that size means if it comes out the hole isn't huge but definitely isn't small.

When faced with minor variations in the OE tyres... does it matter to match them with the existing?

There are 4 that match, with features like extra load carrying, noise reducing and reinforced sides... not helpful.

You should have no problem getting a garage to plug that. Much cheaper than a new tyre.

Yep, just get it repaired. If you do replace it then get exactly what’s on the other wheels- otherwise you’ll have (potentially) different grip levels between and across axles.

As long as the hole is on tread not the side wall they will plug.

I reckon that looks great. Also gear lever, is that new? Really nice. The whole thing just says "drivers car". I'm guessing they gave you the bill after you'd nestled into the seat?
