can you afford to fix it if it's properly borked
Yes but don't want to!
He's calling me today and I have read up on FN2 Civic air con. There is a common fault where the relay for the compressor motor in the fuse box fails, it's easy to check this as the belt/compressor won't be turning. The worst case of a new compressor is a lot less than I thought but I don't really want to get into air con fault finding, especially when it could be a £12 pipe or a £20 relay or it could be potentially hundreds. So I'd prefer him to get it seen to or I drop my offer accordingly.
That sounds plausible but also still crazy.
Just ask yourself what it's worth without aircon, can you afford to fix it if it's properly borked, and I think the big question is, how likely is it that he bought a car, realised something major on it is fucked, and is trying to get rid?
