Yes I remember that.
And I was living in Hackney at the time -

Bitching about other people's tags is as old as BTOB. I weep whenever mashton disses my tags and skully complains about my clues, but the mission continues.
Ping pong tables can fuck off, though.

New: I'm all for moving the goal posts further out, in lockdown anyway
Like the last tag, I haven't gone beyond the boundary, just.
EDIT original, less revealing photo

Oh, I hope you didn’t think I was criticising. I’m all ok for a far-flung tag. And like you say, it wasn’t too tricky so kept the game moving.

Yeh, I hope I didn't upset you too. I was assuming that central made it easier for more people to get to, maybe it doesn't. And I should have realised that not everyone can afford to employ someone to get the tags for them, as I do.

What's going On at number 34?
I guess you could send them an SAE and ask… maybe provide some multiple-choice style options and space for a free-form explanation?

Complaining about clues is as old as BToB. :)
Oh puhlease. No clues!

Fuck I know this. There’s an abandoned chair nearby I think.

The "wrong river" part of my "clue" is that this sports ground is called Leigh Road, but the river it's near to is the River Roding, quite a bit further east of the Lea.
The sports ground has been unused for the last 10 years at least, but I'm on the committee of a football team that is trying to persuade the landowner to sell the ground, or at least lease it to us, so we can turn it back into something for the local community. The local MP is very supportive, but the land is owned by the National Grid (I think) and they're not that interested.

the river - sounds like you've got the wrong one.
Had me virtually boating down the Rom last night. Hopelessly wrong, but I enjoyed the 'trip'.

Yeah, and they row on the Lea but not on the Roding. It's all very confusing.
Now that you've tagged it, giving you the land should be a mere formality, of course.

And to add to the confusion, very close to this site was a bridge whose name also seemed to refer to the same wrong river. This bridge subsequently went by another more descriptive name which in turn was given to a large swathe of London even though the bridge itself had long since been demolished when the area was named. How about that for a pithy clue.

I've got it, just need to carve out an hour in the day to go and actually get it

Old: Royston v̶a̶s̶e̶y̶ Gardens, just off the A12 near the site of the old red bridge across the Roding. Bit red faced on this one as I cycle past it about 3 times a week on the short loop I do from my house, so you'd have thought that I'd have recognised it earlier. In my defence it's always on the other side of a fence so it looks very different.

Good pub (my local, lucky me), blessed with an inexplicable tiny railway. I imagine the owners are now looking at that massively under-utilised outdoor space with a measure of regret.
Initially my brain told me this said 'rode home backwards'.
