Any must-haves from the Steam summer sale?
Going to pick up Sniper Elite 4, what are people's thoughts about Ghost Recon Wildlands? Big fan of the old Ghost Recon games but currently guessing that they bear as much resemblance to the new ones as the old Rainbow Six games do to the modern takes.

Must remember I need to do this before late night sessions

Is Wildlands the Bolivian one? That was pretty enjoyable. Much more so than the Far Cry Tech Bro war console fest.

That's the one, though the Far Cry comment does highlight one of my main concerns in that Ubisofts franchises seem to have all just merged into one these days.

That happened six years ago :)
Looks a little harsh in hindsight, the last two ACs have been vey good. I'm not even sure which one I was referring to in that post.
As for Ghost Recon, I tried Wildlands on a free-to-play weekend or something and it was shit. Have very fond memories of the old ones and it doesn't deserve to use the name.

True, when I say these days, the last game of that ilk I played was Far Cry 3 (well, Blood Dragon if we're being pedantic), though looking at the modern AC games they do look a hell of a lot like a Far Cry game in a historical setting.
Good to know about Wildlands, had more than a sneaking suspicion that they may have deviated from the slow paced, realistic, tactics-based shooter that I recall.

I got Wildlands on a whim and, despite being really tired of Far Cry esque ubi nonsense, something about the gameplay loop really grabbed me. Like really really grabbed me I think I squeezed just about all the content out of it, collected all the guns, etc etc. On the higher difficulties the gameplay shifts towards something approaching rewarding, but the main game is just invulnerable super soldier nonsense. I think a permadeath mode was introduced in a patch that was released maybe a week after I stopped playing it; at that point I thought it was best not to dive back in from the start... I only ever solo-ed it, but imagine messing about with a buddy would be lols.

I'm sorely tempted by Ace Combat 7 for ~£15, MGS-esque story nonsense and what looks to be a visually stunning light-arcade flight sim

Got this on GamePass for similar reasons before Lonely Mountain distracted me, still not got around to booting it up. Today might be the day!

Has anyone played the foundation dlc for control?
Was confused by the news stories touting its arrival, didn’t realise that it was out on the Xbox one, after having been released earlier for the ps4.
Seems there’s going to be another bit of dlc coming in the near future.
If it happens before the end of summer I may just be able to play control for the rest of the year. -

Only anaged first mission before responsibilities hit. It’s pretty, no point to it yet as it was glorified tutorial but I’ll keep going when I get another window.

Playing it now, very impressed. Some excellent changes of pace.
I think the next one's meabt to be about Alan Wake.
-
• #22790
Should also add, they've added Expeditions too since I played the campaign which are quite fun.

yeah I've got tokens for the jukebox, but haven't played any expeditions yet, currently stuck on the tommasi boss battle, I'm getting closer to defeating him, but the hidden hiss keep denying me.
On the Alan Wake thing (always wanted to play the original game, but it was xbox only, so never got to) seen his name mentioned in the game and it's interesting how the studio is linking this game back to a previous game they've made, and am wondering how it'll work if you haven't played Alan Wake..

Been spending a fair bit of time playing Session over the past week. Such a relaxing game to play. Still in alpha but looks and feels great:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx4np0iDFTc
Bit of a mixed bag of levels so far, 5 in total. 2 medium sized skateparks, an underground carpark complex, a small city street area and a huge city area (the video above takes place entirely within this level).
Between this, SkaterXL, the Tony Hawk's remaster and the Skate4 announcement, feels like a second coming of the skateboarding genre.

That looks great! I really love Skate 2 and 3 and still play them both from time to time. Great for just exploring and trying to find new challenges to set yourself. I played the Tony Hawks games a lot as a kid as well. I'd love a good new skating game.

Am about just over half way through control. Gives you the option to reset your abilities for 30k xp/bullets whatever the hell they are.
Which I took to mean I could reset my abilities tree back to zero but keep the ability points I’d earned and then change the level of my abilities now I’ve played the game for a while.
Did not expect it to send me back to zero on the ability tree and to take away all of my ability points as well, giving me no way of regaining the lost ability points.Cue a few mins of frantic searching through menus and finally had to restart my progress from a previous mission to get back what I’d stupidly got rid of..

Was someone on here selling a copy of Spiderman? After having an Xbox for years and years, picked up a PS4 for the exclusives (more into story games).
Spiderman is on the list.

I was, no takers so it went on eBay a couple of months ago.

the digital version with the dlc was cheap on the store recently.

I've not had much time for games recently but managed to put a few hours into RDR2 in the last couple of days. I think what I like about it is the fact that it's a huge map that you can just fanny about in causing mischief, then pick up a mission here and there if you fancy it. Same with Skyrim which I think is probably the game I've spent most time playing. Does anyone have suggestions for anything else that ticks those boxes on Xbox One? (Don't say the Witcher, for no particularly good reason I just don't care for it).

Fallout 4?

Another favourite actually!
From the look of it, that CPU is not going to just pop off either.
Pretty much. Nobody's got time for that.
