Speaking of Tudor, not good news! Did my very occasional glance on my Harrods in the draw, which I haven't worn as was debating to hold onto and wear as my wedding watch due to a lot of the accent colours being green, like the bridesmaid dresses, overall outside greenery and so on.
Anyway, the dial has a fault! It has printing missing from the lettering. I thought initially it was just the light messing around but then got my other camera to take a close up image. First with mobile for reference:

I agree on watch boxes being pretty universally ugly, but this one isn't too bad https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/755595129/wooden-watch-box-personalized-hetch-ds16?ref=shop_home_feat_4

Is that better or worse?

There are some great watch boxes on etsy.
My wife bought me one made out of a woodworm riddled Victorian wardrobe. The wooodworm are long gone thankfully.

Its not that I don't like it, I just think it could have been better.

Depends if you want to tell the day?
I sometimes look at my knock of Panda trying to gauge this.

2 people standing next to each other is a similar weight so it is not a silly as it seems. I like it!
But I guess hefting it up there might take some doing. D'oh.

I wonder if old cigar humidifiers or pipe boxes would make good watch boxes?
Beautifully made presumably with no 2nd hand or collectors market like say tea boxes.
Edit: scrap that. Americans buy them. Although in the scheme of things this one looks good value... altho only Stonehedge could fill it. And for the midcentury-gold-watch-baller.

That's nice that - tempting.

I went the vintage safe route and it’s all well and good except if a couple of really determined people wanted what’s inside, then they’ll get it.
The more I read about it, the best option is to hide it, if they don’t know it exists, they won’t come back/threaten violence etc
And leave a wolf box with some shit quartz in on the bedside table like I do! -

Does this look a bit off?

Very off.

Would be easier to tell if right way up and closer in but I'd challenge the authenticity of that dial.

At best it's a bad redial. At worst, it's not a Rolex.
(Usual caveat to be wary of advice from person on bike forum)

I like it but on closer inspection thought the dial doesn’t match the case. It looks touched up, but aside from that the numerals are hand painted which I thought looked much older than the rest of the watch. It’s not in a reputable jewellers so I guess could be both
I don't think they would have just slimed it down to the 58 with the same look as the stand BB as I think it doesn't warrant enough of a change in the range for them. I was just being naive and hoping for something closer to the 79190 Tudor.
