I just got a 2015 Longitude, noticed the previous owner has put Surly Monkey Nuts, even though it's geared. After removing the wheel and nuts, I found out that I cannot fully move the axle into the track end, as the rotor hits the caliper (Avid G2 160 mm rotor and BB7 caliper). Should I use some more washers to move the caliper up or would you have any other advice?
Update: I found that that is 20 mm adapter, wondering whether changing it will help or will it be too much of a difference (0 or 40 mm one)?
Update 2: after close inspection of the adapter and comparing with another bike I have with BB7s it turned out that the adapter here was mounted opposite way...

There’s an 853 Croix de Fer in my size at a reasonable price but wondering if it would be much of an upgrade from my Brother Kepler Disc. Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on the frames?

Minor, if the rest of your bike is dialled it might be a nice touch, but if it’s going to cost a chunk etc maybe not worth the faff

853 probably be slightly lighter but I doubt there would be much in it.
clearance is pretty similar I think?
the croix de fer has a sloping top tube compared to the Kepler so that might be a consideration if you plan to use a frame bag, maybe the croix would be a bit more comfy as there would be more seatpost on show?
the stack is going to be higher on the croix de fer, but if you're like me you've probably got a bunch of spacers on your kepler because of the short headtube. -

Enjoying my day one 20 but christ it is heavy. My commute is pretty short so weight isn't really an issue. Sorted it out with some restrap panniers, canister bag and saddle bag, new pedals and straps in place.
The saddle is alright, might stick with it for a bit but will probably replace, and the brakes will do for now but they will be the next upgrade.
Anyone got any experience with the nexus 8 hubs? Mine is slipping all the time in the mid gears when I put any real power down.

Could anyone with one of the pre-revised geo day-ones (2014 I think) tell me the axle to crown of the fork? Don't seem to be able to find it.

AFAIK they are just Croix de Fer forks.
Post a photo of your bike and I'll confirm it.

I hope is a suitable place to post this here.
After 3 month of researching the web and some encouragement from @Technics100 I can happily confirm that 650B x 47 tyres would fit a CDF 20(2016). I guess it will fit any CDf with "bottle neck" geometry as in the hand sketch bellow.
The clearance from the chainstay is around 2 mm on each side. See photos.

Taken it to a 10 mile ride, mixed surface. No rub. While riding looked down on the clearence. It stays the same. The wheels are new but according to Techinics100 he did not experienced any on the 2014 model with the same level of clearance and a long time user.
I will have an update as a long time use to see how it behaves.

What size of tyres have you got, think the 853 specifies 28c max which is fine but wondered what if any space there is?

Tubs were 25mm but clinchers are 25mm on wide rims

Mine. Old faithful 2011ish 56 Equilibrium. Not much left of the original factory build. If I was only allowed one bike forever it would be this be this one.

Yeah I had no issues with the 47mm WTB byways, but it's very tight with the 1.90 gravelking SK's as they measure about 51mm.. so maybe a bit tight with those.. I'm going to swap to 1.75 when they get any stock..

I'm currently thinking of selling my hardtail due to using my CDF more and more for all off-road duties. Would be using proceeds to get a 650 wheel set and some chunkier tyres than my current 700x40, so would be interested to hear your ongoing reports!

Feel like it depends on your tolerance for mud a bit and the actual shape of the tyre on the rim. There are pics on the internet of people wedging 1.9 and I'm sure I saw some 2.1s in somehow.
I also intend to try this this winter. But I have a sense that maybe the actual answer if you want a CDF with 650b tyres is a Fugio.

I have been running Hunt 650b on my 2014 for the past few months.. Started with WTB 47mm Byways, but they weren't giving me the grip I was after offroad.. so changed to 1.9inch Gravelking SK's, although these measured up at 52mm which was too tight for the CDF at the back, so just swapped out to 1.75in Gravelking SK's which measure 43mm, so a good 5mm clearance at the back and no issues.. pic below after 22 mile test ride at the weekend.
