And to add to the confusion, very close to this site was a bridge whose name also seemed to refer to the same wrong river. This bridge subsequently went by another more descriptive name which in turn was given to a large swathe of London even though the bridge itself had long since been demolished when the area was named. How about that for a pithy clue.
