Is there a 'normal weight tent recommendations' thread? My parents want to invest in some good quality camping kit for campsite holidays – something comfy, weatherproof and durable that they'll be transporting in a car. Ideally something they can stand up in/cook in the porch of.
I don't know anything about non-lightweight brands, so any recommendations greatly appreciated. Thanks
The best non-lightweight tents are made by Hilleberg. They are exceptionally well made and hold their value extremely well. They are not cheap but you can expect a lifetime of hard use from one.
If they don’t want to spend that much, MSR and Big Agnes would be the brands to look for.
Wild Country (the cheap offshoot of Terra Nova) are fairly decent. I've had a Hoolie 2 for about 5 years, used fairly frequently and it's still going strong. They do a couple of big stand up in tents
