Malet street gardens feature in a scene in Day of the Triffids, the opening lines of which were in the first clue. It's in Bloomsbury, which links back to my Taviton st tag, as does Senate house (which is the next scene in the book and film) being part of UCL.
I remember seeing Malet st gardens for the first time and realising it was the place in the book. Recently I've been cycling round central London a lot and with both the British Museum and ULU being closed the area has been super quiet and as close to how it would have been in the book as it will ever get; no one to be seen, nothing moving. Eerie and exhilarating at same time.
