  • Could I please ask a favour? Could you please measure the crown to axle length on the forks? I have a Wide Open and have being looking for an original set of steel forks for it for some time... So far to no avail! Don’t suppose you fancy selling me your forks? Thought not, but I’ve got to try!

P.s. to any potential buyers, Wide Opens are a lovely bike/ride!

    Thanks Andy

  • Axle to crown is 375mm. They are lovely bikes with an especially nice fork crown. Only selling as I fancy a change and something with discs. Touring mode:

  • After a few questions I have got the tape measure out and actually measured rather than guessed!

    Seat tube 54cm C to C, 56cm C to top.
    Top tube 55 cm C to C

I'm 5'11 and a bit, fits well but I could probably also size up. If you're much over 6ft, probably too small.

Front rack is a nitto M18 with extra long struts (home made) and is not for sale

  • racks for sale moved to components classified

  • Dibs. PM incoming

  • Thanks for the fork measurements

375 seems quite short. Was the measurement from the crown race seat/ bottom of the headset to the centre of the axle? Without mud guards could you run bigger than 28c tyres?

I’m guessing it’s the flat fork crown that results in a short measurement of the forks but which allows room for biggish tyres.

    Cheers Andy

  • Crown to axle was measured from crown to axle! Didn’t do it super accurately so give or take 5mm. I think you could probably get a 32c in there without guards
