ye! i love it! still need new brake pads and pedals (using some flat plastic crappy ones)
the tires changed it completely! it had old wornout crappy heavy mtb tires and now it just gooooes!
you can see i am using it with a child seat and the seat is over the rear axel a bit too much and i still touch my son feet with my shoes while pedaling... ! ( its maybe too small for me) -

Handsome looking frame here. What is it? An older Raleigh?
-
• #126911
It's a Tom Board, or at least that's what I was sold it as. It's apparently 1 70's frame-although the rear stays must have been re-spaced as they're 130 mm, and weirdly the Bottom Bracket, despite being only 66 mm wide, takes Italian threaded cups. All rather odd. I would get it repainted as I don't feel the current turquoise-y green really suits it, and it's horrible and thick round the nice seat stay join, but it's only really supposed to be a stopgap frame for a year or two until I hopefully get a frame built for me (assuming life throw up something to stop that happening.)

Going to collect this tomorrow for my girlfriend
If she likes it, i'll upgrade it with 1x10, hydro brakes, nicer wheels and a wald

• #126913
I'd chuck on the Wald right away, makes it so much more of an everyday problem-solver and easier to love.

Nice Somec!
But, it cannot stay with those valve stems that look like almost like an extra spoke :D
Also, maybe :
- the seatpost is too recent
- the saddle in the opposite looks too old, the pedals also
- the stem looks looooong
BUT the whole thing is nice!
- the seatpost is too recent

the saddle in the opposite looks too old, the pedals also
the stem looks looooongThe saddle would look fine if it wasn't on top of that abomination of a seat post.
There were still a few hold-outs against clipless when the groupset came out.
It's a pretty big frame, the stem looks proportional. -

When I went to my local LBS to buy the tubes, they asked what length valve I wanted. I said 'fucking long'. They delivered.
You are probably right about the seatpost, but this was a 'parts bin' build.

Hi, Completely new to the forum. After having built my first brand new bike over lockdown I've caught the bug but also don't want to commute on my nice bike. I have my dad's old Peugeot Comete that I used to ride to university wrecking it in the process. it doesn't have horizontal dropouts does this make it a no go for a fixed conversion? (whole bike photo is mine, the other photo is one showing the dropout more clearly).

Oh yes!

No photos showing for me.
You can make a SS/Fixed out of a frame without horizontal dropouts but it's always a compromise and an inelegant solution.

Great frames, had a large one in the same colour as my main mountain bike for a good while. Looks good with the riding forks.
