  • Bonkers frame. And some of the thinnest forks I've ever seen.

  • I've hit an issue with my Twenty project. I want to use a road triple chainset left over from my short lived tandem.

The chainset is about 52mm to the middle ring with a 110mm bb and the hub is 42mm. I can get a threadless bb from SJS with a 103mm axle which will hopefully be close enough but it looks like the back of the crank will foul the bb. Would it be a really stupid idea to grind back a few mm off the back of the crank? There is plenty of material there.

I've tried it out with a 103mm bb and some plastic cups which have taken to what remains of the threads but I wouldn't expect it to last long under load.

  • Think I’ve got a threadless bb with a 110 or 113mm axle

  • Recalcitrant seatpost, out.

  • That frame is mental, never seen anything like this. Apart from the yellow lugs I love it a lot.

  • Good stuff. And yes that chainset will do about another million miles. Are those truly Campagnolo Record pedals?

  • Love this one.

  • Think this frame is available to buy new from Condor. I hope it was a bargain and not Condor RRP! Look forward to you doing something nice to it, most of the builds condor suggest are like an Eroica entry on meth

  • More appropriate seat post and saddle.

The top tube is a touch shorter than I had thought. If I'm going to take this on long rides, I might have to look at a layback.

The gears and brakes need a light fettle. I am also considering getting some other bars, levers and downtube shifters so I could take it to L'eroica. Reckon it would make the Italians shit themselves.

  • This is how a bike should look in my opinion. No gumwalls needed, frame speaks for itself. Beautiful!

  • @Flandria & @jono84, thanks a tonne.

Looks like the black tyres stay.

  • I have a frame in SLX steel that seems to have a slightly ovalized seattube. Is it OK to ream that out?

  • Mostly parts bin build on the go. Did buy a sus fork for this build but it's locked up at work. Looking forward to pootling around Epping Forest on it in the near future.

  • That looks like great fun.

  • Good choice. Even though those frames are incredible I've seen that it's totally possible to fuck up the build with Klein's. FWIW I think you've absolutely nailed it.

It bemuses me how bikes/builds like this sometimes appear to go unnoticed on this forum!

  • Budget gravel basher. Just need to crimp the chainstays and it’s done...

  • niceeee welcome to the cotic+epping club

  • I really like that, what model Charge is it? Guessing the frame weights a fair bit?

Kudos for getting Camo bartape to look good.

  • So close to finishing the Mr Pink. It's my first time building a geared bike from scratch so made loads of little mistakes/oversights that have meant it's taken forever. Just waiting on the postman to turn up with the new, long reach brakes, need to pick up some barrel adjusters and I should be able to finish it off!

  • The rad levels are going to be extremely mild

  • Thanks, it's a Plug 5 in Tange Prestige. Came up cheap on eBay on a account of a dent in the top tube. XL weighs 2250g according to the thread on Singletrack - pretty reasonable for a steel disc brake frame.

Haha I was more concerned about the white headset (came fitted to the frame) but I think it works.

  • That's a nice Technium, @jBola !

  • Some love Italian vintage mountainbikes, others British...

Swapped my Cinelli Ottomilainsu (that didn't fit me) for this beauty.

  • Looks great! Does the geometry work alright with the drops? Not too long and stretched out?
