I only thought about lever ergonomics this morning on my commute. I really grew accustom to modern shimano shaped hoods so might need to re-plan as I was ready to splurge on Gevenalle.
Travel agents look gimmickey and do seem to work, if I do resort to modern shimano levers, I would also need a wolftooth tanpan or similar for a mtb rear derailleur. Adaptors all around then.
Other option would be sram s500 levers or gut some 105 levers and use a bar-end shifter. But I really do like my controls close, especially on a touring setup.

It does seem 10 speed would be easier, but as I am planning on a 1x setup, more gears would be better!
