The largest supermarket chains in Norway are reporting that during the pandemic the number of sick leave days among their retail staff has been several percentage points lower than same period in previous years.
I have always gotten unwell every once in a while at work before the pandemic (bike shop), but now being acutely aware, keeping hands clean, little to no physical contact with others, not touching objects when you don’t need to, I end up not having even a bit of a cold since the end of March.
My colleague from my last jobs notice the same with them.
I think it’s largely down to being a bit more aware of how we get exposed to germs and thus end up being healthier.

A bit like when I used to work as a digital media technician, having to sit down with students every day next to them, touching the same disgusting mouse and keyboard etc. Since I changed job last year to a more development role, I haven’t even had a cold last winter. So definitely contacts! Let’s hope most of us will get into a good habit for the long term.
