My BiL had the saloon. Big floaty Brit take on a Yank barge. Replaced it with a Focus RS.

Blowers are cool, if they're massive positive displacement twin-scroll units with a polished alloy casing poking out through the bonnet. Otherwise, meh.
As for head bolts, nothing an ARP head bolt kit won't fix.

Too much anyway.
I think it boils down to E/C63, or an RS6 - and obviously that's out of the question.
What's out there that I'm missing? Apart from the V10 M5 Touring of course, but apparently that has no torque.

That was the conclusion I reached. And I have an irrational dislike of M-Bs. Hence the RS6.

Are you actually thinking of changing from a rare, interesting estate car that you've already sunk plenty of money into just because a wearable component failed?
If so, great idea. Merc is fucked so I'll give you £6k for it.

Volvo 240 GLT Estate with an LS7. Still would.

Alpina b3/5

Perfect if you only have one leg. If you have two, why would you?

Ish. I have no idea what tomorrow is going to cost me tbh, I told the garage to go over the car and fix absolutely everything, which I think should be the tensioner, the belt, passenger side door check strap is going "gronk", one of the parking sensors is intermittent and the magazine in the CD player sometimes sticks. I've already replaced the check strap once so that'd be on the garage, the rest I'd expect to pay for.
I'd only swap it for another rare, interesting estate car - with a bit more power, preferably.

Anyone like to buy a very fast Mercedes estate car?
How much? Hope the Merc pulls through.

£10,000 to a forum person, two sets of wheels - 17's with Sotto-Zero winter tyres and 18's with P-Zero summer tyres, both sets of wheels recently refurbished.
I'll leave the worlds most satisfying coffee holder in there as well.

that sounds incredibly good value considering what you've probably put into it?!
-
• #54965
I have probably spent around that* on bringing it up to the standard I wanted, but there you go.
* Possibly more, I'd need to add it up

Ow.
I hope it's not fucked. Not because of 10k of costs, but because it doesn't deserve to be fucked by a snapped belt. -

Too rich my blood at the moment although sounds like a bargain. Quite intreaged by the cup holder though.

10k? U mad? Seems like a ridiculous bargain to me.
If you did make a change, would an e63 work?

AA guy is here, just done his walk round talking photographs- said “I have to say this is in mint condition!”, I guess he wasn’t expecting that for its age.

When my belt broke, I think it cost around £350 including towing. New water pump fitted as it was a good time to do it with the gubbins removed. That’s an Audi specialist independent mechanic albeit he is a mate of mine so price may a little lower than normal - mates rates.

I replaced the water pump and belt a couple of years ago (I think, it was just before Richie borrowed the car to see how much money he could spend on petrol, and I didn't want there to be any risk of something stranding him). I should go through my paperwork to see if the tensioner was changed then.

This is one I’ll regret.

When you borrowed it the car was running a non-OEM MAF, which caused stalling problems at idle and (when I replaced it) noticeably improved fuel economy. The PO had replaced the Mercedes unit with a non-Mercedes "Bosch MAF" when on holiday in Scotland, I discovered from inspecting the paperwork.
Absolutely everything on the car now is OEM Mercedes - I could probably qualify for a main dealer warranty if the car wasn't 12 years old.
I drove down to Bedgebury and back yesterday with a bike on the roof, at (ahem) a spirited 70 miles per hour (+/- 20 mph), and got 24.1 mpg.
Nothing on the roof and being a bit more observant of the speed limit and you'd do a lot better.
