  • The price was actually 330, the rate was a bit different than I remembered. I think the dial is original, it’s a bit faded. I’ll look into getting the second hand cleaned.
The glass is new, but signed. The watchmaker thought everything else is original to the watch. Unserviced, but looked over and works fine.

  • I don't think Omega are that careful when they put them on, I've had them upside down and all sorts on watches that I'm sure have never been worked on.

  • This might need to go now as I can’t see it getting much use in the future.
The movement has a completely different sound than any other I’ve listened too. Kinda ‘springy’ and musical. Anyone know what it is?

  • Could be a Tissot 784 -

Nowadays mechanical Tissots are all ETA (being Swatch group).

  • When does the sound happen? Normally when I hear a musical note coming from.a movement its resonance of some kind. Often it's the second hand vibrating like a tuning fork.

  • Sounds right. Like the ticks and tocks resonating. Also the winding action feels more fine toothed like more little clicks and less friction.

  • That’s it!

  • Are you sure? From the blog, it looks like the only way in is through the crystal!

  • That was the specific reference he had. I’ve got the same movement in a different watch.

  • Got a hirsch strap for dads day.

  • Really thoughtful present. Looks great.

  • Hi All,

Having bit of a clear out and I've got this Omega dial and hand set in my bits box:

It was given to me for a project but wasn't suitable so I can't really sell it on and it's just going to sit there.

It's for Omega 30t2 and derivatives (the 26x calibers). Dial measures 29.5mm in diameter.

Here's the deal, I'll post it out to you at my expense then when you get it, you make a donation for what you feel is right to the local cancer support charity that kept me going when I needed it, link to my just giving page here:

    https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Tad-Kowal

If anyone's interested, PM me your name and address and I'll post it out. I moved on a few bikes, frames and other bits on LFGSS a few years ago, time I did something similar again.

Full story here if you're interested:

  • V nice present - looks really good. I'm sporting an Alpinist / Hirsch combo today as well.

  • I’ve noticed something on the Grand Seiko - the indices reflect the sun in different colours, really hard to photograph (smudge on the glass doesn’t help either...) but it’s literally a rainbow going on there, blue, green, pink... damn, I love this watch.

  • You can kind of catch it in a video. Mine from last year:

  • Gorgeous.

  • I do fancy the 061/261. Developed a minor crush last year and even went to the Seiko boutique to take it some flowers. Behind the shimmer and shine there's something a bit 1016 about it, at least to me. Gah.

  • After I previously asked for some advice, I pulled the trigger on a Helson Shark Diver 40mm in Brass, can't wait for it to be delivered. Just FYI they have a 15% off coupon on their site right now for anyone on the fence.

I'm not usually a fan of rubber straps but where would people recommend for a nice brown thick leather to handle the size of the case for it?

  • Also got a lovely father's day gift for my first one from the wife, along with a bottle of Woodford.

  • Thanks! It's my first and compared to my other watches, feels like I'm not even wearing one, it's weird. Was a bit hesitant on the green but it looks a lot more subdued than that picture.

  • It's not leather (I'm not sure about leather on a diver) but I have one of these on my brass sharkdiver and it works well https://www.watchgecko.com/zuludiver-cordura-premium-divers-watch-strap

Added bonus that the 22mm version tapers to 20mm so I can use the brass buckle from the watch. (That's for the sharkdiver 42mm, I'm not sure what size lugs/buckle are on the 40mm.)

Otherwise, lots of people are fans of @31trum https://jpwleatherworks.tumblr.com/ straps on here.

  • @31trum starp.
    If compatible?
