Omnium's take a GPX BB right? Is there any reason why I couldn't fit them to a Pearson Touché?

What's the general opinion on tyre sidewall cracks? This appears to have parted between the tan and black sections. It will be run at fairly low pressure 80 psi but might see some loaded and/or towpath use.

Yes, GXP. Some frames struggle to clear the spider with Omniums, might be worth a hunt around to see if anybody else is using the Omnium/Touche combo before committing.

They do use a GXP BB, brief Pearson Touche google looks like it's a threaded BB thing so no worries with the BB, some frames have problems with the omnium crank or spider hitting the frame, might need to do some very specific measuring or just try it and see, unless someone else has already done the same.

80psi is not "fairly low"

Cracked rubber is usually a sign of age embrittlement, and where the rubber leads, the nylon carcase threads usually follow. That said, I've seen much worse being ridden, and the fact that it's separated at the join probably says more about how badly the two-shot moulding was done in the first place than the level of deterioration since.

Thanks, that seems sensible. In terms of the strength of the tyre (resisting the pressure from the inner tube) my hunch was that the carcass does the heavy lifting and it's too much of a coincidence that the crack is at the colour boundary. Presumably the risk you're referring to is of the carcass also being old and brittle rather than a cascade failure of the rubber then the carcass.

If I wanted to tape a bottle cage to my bike what would be the tape to use? I've used electrical tape instead of a cable guide before, but can't ever take that off again as the paint would come off with it. Will self-amalgamating tape be the same? Is starting with a layer of helicopter tape the way to go?

Zefal gizmo or equivalent is a better option than tape IMHO.

That's a way, if you want the 🚁 tape to be a permanent fixture. For protecting the 🎨 from being pulled off with the tape, you can use low tack tape as a barrier. Over that, you add 🚁 for mechanical protection, then a fibre reinforced tape for the actual attachment. PVC electrical tape or silicone rubber self-amalgamating is too elastic to hold a full bottle given how much leverage it has over the relatively small attachment lugs.

I've had two on mine for ages, no issues. Oops, I meant of the Zéfal ones.

I am having all sorts of problems with the alignment of my force 22 fd and my rourke braze on.

Every time i tighten the bolt the alignment shifts too much and causes issues with hitting the crank

Haven't heard back from BR, but is this likely to solve my issues? I can only find lots of places selling it with no one saying what it actually does.

I’ve written about this before but can’t find it ASAP in comments.
Inner tube cut up on bottom to protect paint. Full roll of electrical tape attaching bottle cage above. Just cheap tape is fine, you need to use lots of it. Cable tie over the top if you worry about spontaneous falling off. No doubt someone will tell me this is not the best way to do it, but this works absolutely fine.

There’s also a good page on bikepacking.com with instructions on how to do this in a million different ways.

Flip flop hubs for road use. I'm out of touch. What's a decent pair of hubs with great bearings and suitable bearing protection for riding in all conditions year round. Not Royce money :)
