Seems like a straight forward attempt at whataboutism.
I read about a lot us sports on the athletic (predominantly US sports subscription website) and you get this position a lot in the comments under any article talking about black athletes activism or how the major sports leagues are dealing with this moment in history when the athletes who play their sports are predominantly black.
They talk about black on black crime/violence, general thuggery, lack of male role models/fathers, pretty much anything but the current issue of police brutality and how that stems from the racism inherent in a society built on the backs of slaves.
When people utter it, it becomes immediately filed under the all lives matter section of the debate and you move on.. -

beautifulracist as possible" -

it is a shame that a tiny number of police officers have been killed by violent looters

Was trying to emphasize that they weren't protesters, but have edited anyway

Is it a problem to be vague? Think I was with your take, in that it's opening a conversation. A complex one at that. US thing definitely sparked it, but even over there the protests have incorporated other issues and developed in different ways at different speed.

User user114091 was posting rubbish like this in a well known DJ's instagram feed a week or so back.
Except he used his company name in that instance. -

Carrying on from the recommendation of Babylon as a film to watch for the black british experience, the guardian has put together a top ten of films (Babylon) included to expand on that.
Have to be honest, even as a black film maker, most of them I haven’t heard of. -

I guess the main problem with it being vague is that it may just peter out without any measurable goals. There'll be another inquiry and by the time that is done the momentum will fade until the next time something happens and it will start from the beginning.

Does he get called out for it?

Probably because he was using his company name he tried to appear "reasonable" by suggesting that violence in any way connected to BLM demos totally undermined the whole cause. He actually got a couple of "likes" for it at which point I stopped looking.
He seemed to be particularly upset about the Police being attacked so I'm sure he would feel the same way about last Saturday's events.

What a big sigh.

Good list. Like you I wasn't aware of many of them but that's not the first time critics have mentioned just how rare it is to see "normal" black family life in Second Coming.
I watched My Brother the Devil last night but if falls firmly into the inner city drama category which I'm guessing a lot of people might label as a "gang film". It was pretty good with a lot going on but the presence of Said Taghmaoui made it hard not to think about La Haine and what an impact that movie made.

fucking love La Haine. Haven't watched it for ages, will watch again to remind myself how good it is..

Some quotes I have collected, which I thought worth sharing
There is no collective slavery revenge fantasy among black people, but I am certain, if there were one, it would not be about white people, not at all. My slavery revenge fantasy would probably involve being able to read and write without fear of punishment or persecution coupled with a long vacation in Paris. It would involve the reclamation of dignity on my own terms and not with the 'generous' assistance of benevolent white people who were equally complicit in the ills of slavery - Roxanne Gray
But all our phrasing—race relations, racial chasm, racial justice, racial profiling, white privilege, even white supremacy—serves to obscure that racism is a visceral experience, that it dislodges brains, blocks airways, rips muscle, extracts organs, cracks bones, breaks teeth. You must never look away from this. You must always remember that the sociology, the history, the economics, the graphs, the charts, the regressions all land, with great violence, upon the body -Ta Nehisi Coates
The Black female is assaulted in her tender years by all those common forces of nature at the same time that she is caught in the tripartite crossfire of masculine prejudice, white illogical hate and Black lack of power. The fact that the adult American Negro female emerges a formidable character is often met with amazement, distaste and even belligerence. It is seldom accepted as an inevitable outcome of the struggle won by survivors and deserves respect if not enthusiastic acceptance - Maya Angelou
My kids will get all the talks. I'll teach them to respect the law and the people tasked to uphold it, but to be weary of them as well, because they are still people, too. Flawed people. I will teach them that hate has many forms and racism is but one head of the hydra. I will teach them to speak out when their rights are violated and treat every injustice with the incredulity it deserves. Because I never want my kids to be used to it...I will teach that no reason is enough to justify their demise. I will teach them that they are human, too, regardless of their hue and their personhood doesn't need to be qualified with descriptors like 'honor roll student,' 'good kid,' or ‘nice to everyone.' Maybe we'll get justice before that time comes. Just maybe - Nico Davis
The killing of George Floyd elicited corporate outrage and some donations. But well intentioned rhetoric has not always been followed up by meaningful action - Aarian Marshall and Arielle Pardes
Many of us have been trapped inside an intellectual bubble. We believe that because we are not racist that everyone else thinks the same way - Theresa Mohammed

Shut up. As a shiny wit as I am, feel free to take to take shots at me. Think about what you say to others.
Am quite angry and probably quite too up for a ruck that most, but with this.....

BLM is very relevant here as racial injustice is very prevalent and more insidious in the UK.
While we don't have public lynchings fortnightly .The UK has a long history of black people dying in police custody and racial injustice . -

We get to pretend that there have been no real racial issues in the U.K. since William Wil.beforce. Not being as bad as the U.S. is such a tiny bar, ofc.
Just so we're clear, is the other black police officer Patrick Underwood?
