Completely impractical gearing and an ill fitting 'beer satchel' but probably the most fun bike i've ever owned. Absolutely love bombing around on it (so long as its relatively flat)

  • Nice. What's the frame and fork? 650B?

  • AllCity defwish and some NS forks that I welded some post mounts onto. Nah, big ol’ 29’s

  • sickasfuck build! Whats the frame bag btw?

  • What was people’s exact issue with you riding this? That they got whipped by a guy in baggies on a track bike, or that you didn’t have a brake?
I’ve not been a cx commissaire for ages but I don’t remember a rule against fixed- only that you’d need an extra brake?

  • It wasn’t me, it was @r0bb0

Summer cross races are a novelty event in my opinion, essentially grass crits in the main. They should be about encouraging participation and introducing cross to people who’ve not tried it before. For the experienced riders it’s a chance to assess your fitness and give your skills a brush off, and, as there are no BC points on offer, should be enjoyed.

Too many experienced riders take it far too seriously. They need to chill out.

  • Agreed!

  • Youre welcome!
I think the Ribble is by far the best value out of all those frames. As @oheyitsdrew said, 725 is much much nicer than cromo.
I think the weird geo is to do with the fact that its aimed at the singlespeed commuter crowd rather than a true track frame. I almost ended up buying one but didn't want to wait til September so I ended up getting a Trek Crockett instead

  • Such a shame that the Ribble will be ready in September. Hope to find something soon to be honest.

I am still keeping an eye around, fingers crossed 💆

  • What's this bag? Looks like a handy size for daytrips.

  • Yeah its annoying when you want something right away! I was just having a look at other options out of interest and both the 8Bar Fhain Steel and Alu frames will take 32c tires, so will the All-city big block and the Soma Rush. Not sure if thats enough clearance for you but seems to work for other folks

  • The Soma rush looks good too, hope to find someone selling one soon 🙃

  • Ribble Urban 725

Thank you for dropping this absolute gem. I've spent so long looking for a quality steel frame with wide clearances that doesn't the bank. This looks like fantastic value!

  • Cheers! Erm tbh i haven't a clue, was given to me by a flatmate and theres no tags or branding. He says its a 'mystery prototype out of china' lol

Holds 5 bottles of estrella tho...

  • First prototype, running 650b x 42 tubeless, barspinable. Complete bike weight 7.1kg.
