• Can anyone critique this selection of parts for a wheel build? And offer suggestions of changes.

    For: gravel/road/light touring
Requirements: QR 100/130, rim, dyno, cheap-ish, for 35-42c tyres, black rims

    1. SP PV-8 32h
    2. Novatec F172sb 32h rear
    3. Kinlin XR22t (any reason to go for XR26?)
    4. ACI DB spokes/brass nips, I've used these before for several wheelbuilds and they've been fine

This comes in <£200 and ~1950g, which I'm happy with for a strong, dyno wheelset, certainly better than the stock wheels on my Tricross.

    Cheers!

  • Seems reasonable. XR26 is stiffer and slightly more aero than the Xr22, and only a tad heavier. But both will work fine.

  • Which rim did you decide on?
I found a set of immaculate DT Hügi 28h hubs locally but still need to get a SP PV-8.
Spokes will be Sapim race/force and brass nips.

Due to lower spoke count I was leaning towards the XR26t, the XR31t are a bit too high for light touring/commuting.
