My old flat was full of false widows. Used to find their tangle-webs all over - especially crevices behind stuff in rarely used cupboards or amongst stuff stored under beds. Regular vacuuming kept them down. Unusual to see them in a garage though. Usually daddy-long-legs wipe them out.
